In Hosea 4:6, it says, "My people perish for lack of knowledge..."
In John 17:3, Jesus defines eternal life: "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." True eternal life is found in a deep, personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
God has always been waiting with open arms, ready to restore His lost people to fellowship with Him—the fellowship that was broken since the fall of Adam. No matter where we've been or what we've done, when we come to Jesus, He is faithful to respond. So come as you are—believe, repent, be baptized, and allow the Holy Spirit to work within you and through you, empowering you to live for Him!
And Peter answered them, Repent (change your views and purpose to accept the will of God in your inner selves instead of rejecting it) and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of and release from your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ~ Acts 2:38
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. ~ Galatians 2:20
And have clothed yourselves with the new [spiritual self], which is [ever in the process of being] renewed and remolded into [fuller and more perfect knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him Who created it. ~ Colossians 3:10
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars - their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death. ~ Revelation 21:8
